Dornoch is the County Town of Sutherland, Britain's biggest county. It has a 12th Century Cathedral (now a parish church) and 'Castle.' The Castle was actually a Bishop's Palace and is now a hotel. Most of this ancient town is built of mellow sandstone, giving almost the look of a Cotswold village.

Dornoch is also a good base for exploring: ten miles away stands Dunrobin Castle, the largest inhabited house in the Highlands and seat of the Dukes of Sutherland, notorious for the 19th Century "Highland Clearances." At the Falls of Shin, 20 miles to the west, you may see salmon jumping the falls or enjoy the nearby visitor centre, shop and restaurant - owned and operated by Harrods of Knightsbridge!

The caravans are sited beside the famous Championship course at Royal Dornoch and its adjoining 'Struie' course.

There are also many other excellent courses in the area, including the James Braid-designed Brora, a wonderful mixed parks/links course at Golspie and other fine courses at Bonar Bridge and Tain.
